CORNWALL, Ontario – A Cornwall Community Police Service constable is shooting for nationals at a seven-team provincial tournament, now underway at the Cornwall Curling Centre.
Law enforcement officers have rallied for some friendly competition at the 2015 Ontario Police Curling Association provincial championships (Jan. 21-25).
CCPS Const. Matt Dupuis, event organizer and competitive curler, said the tourney draws a lot of attention to Cornwall as officers enjoy the six-sheet splendor of the city’s curling centre. The event also raises funds for the Tourette Syndrome Foundation of Canada.
Dupuis is playing with fellow cops Andrew McCrae (Brockville), Darrell Blakely (Cornwall), and Rick Marcil (Ottawa).
“This event builds a lot of camaraderie between officers and will bring notoriety to the area for police curling,” said Ted McIntyre, vice-president of the Canadian Police Curling National.
The winners will advance to the CPCN national championships hosted between March 21-28 in Sudbury.
