Minor Bantam AA Rapids

The Seaway Valley Minor Bantam AA Rapids team travelled to Mississauga to compete in a pre-season tournament. The weekend proved to be an exciting one despite quarter-final loss, the Rapids deserves recognition for their strong team efforts. The Rapids started things off against West Mall Lighting winning 4–2. Goals were scored by Dan Pilon, Colin McDonald, Ross Craig, and Brandon Barillaro. Assists went to Reed Payette, Dan Pilon and Grant Cooper. In their second match the Rapids skated away with a 2–0 win against the Mississauga Jets. The Rapids worked hard in order to secure a shutout for goalie Ronald (RJ) McComber. Goals were scored by Isaac Brownlee and Tristen Elie. Assists went to Ryan Thomas, Tristen Elie and Colin McDonald. In a very exciting third game the Rapids tied Stoney Creek Warriors 1–1. Lone goal was scored by Duncan MacDonald picking up a pass from Grant Cooper. The Rapids finished first overall in their division. Moving on to the quarter-final game, the Rapids once again met up with Stoney Creek Warriors. Despite a great team effort, the Rapids could not pull off a win and fell short 4–1. The lone goal was scored by Grant Cooper assisted by Colin McDonald and Tylor Alguire. Rapids goalies Matthew Lapierre and Ronald (RJ) McComber both played outstanding games throughout the tournament. Injured players Cameron Gabri and Brett Lapointe were not able to play but travelled to Mississauga to show their team spirit. MVP winners were awarded to Matthew Lapierre, Colin McDonald, Isaac Brownlee and Duncan MacDonald.
