The Cornwall Motor Speedway visited Cornwall Square recently to give fans the opportunity to meet some of the drivers and see their cars. Members of the speedway staff, including Brian Mulligan and Scott Hanton, were also on hand to promote the upcoming season, which begins on May 15.
Among the highlights for opening night is the first series race of the Mohawk Race Parts in the Pro-Stocks. The following Sunday, May 22, will feature the 100-lap Canadian Nationals for the Modifieds.
The drivers on hand at Cornwall Square included Laurent Ladouceur’s #23 car, the 2010 Modified Champion. Roch Aubin’s, who is entering his twelfth racing season, was there with his #4 Pro-Stock car and young Ben Nurse was also at the Square with his Mini-Stock #2 car.
Nurse is entering his third season and finished third in the final points’ standings for Mini-Stock.
Speedway legend Denzil Billings displayed his car #22 car, which he’s raced with since 1970. Billings was honoured with the Mitch Jock Memorial Merit Award for 2010.
