Daniel O'Neil will represent the Fédération de la jeunesse franco-ontarienne (FESFO) at Granville Island, in Vancouver, for the 2010 Olympic games. Daniel will be volunteering at Place de la Francophonie of Vancouver from February 11 until February 18 organizing and hosting various francophone activities for the general public. Daniel was selected amongst hundreds of Ontario students who applied for this volunteer position. In order to be chosen, Daniel submitted a text of 250 words explaining his intention to volunteer in the Olympic Games and the values required to attend such an international event. He also had to submit an art work illustrating the values that are important during his volunteer experience with the Olympic Games. Each French language school board of Ontario had the opportunity to choose two candidates, one boy and one girl, to represent the FESFO organization on the international scene. Altogether, 24 Ontario francophone high-school students were selected to participate in this once in a lifetime event. Daniel is now counting down the days before his departure for Toronto. On February 10th and 11th he will undergo a two day intensive workshop in order to receive appropriate training for his adventure. This occasion will allow Daniel to collaborate with various students from all four corners of our province. All the students, teachers and administrators from École secondaire catholique La Citadelle are very happy for Daniel's nomination. Submitted photo
