Tia Latour was all smiles last week at the fundraising breakfast for the 3+1 Project 2010 multi-sports centre to be built in Cornwall, where over $600,000 was announced to date pledged to the new arena. Jesse Winchester, a forward for the Ottawa Senators and a Long Sault native, was the guest speaker. Pictured is Tia Latour and Jesse Winchester. Photo courtesy of Bob Peters.

Over $600,000 has been pledged locally and that number excited over 200 community members in the crowd at the kick-off held at the Cornwall Golf & Country Club.

Fundraising team chair Scott Lecky was quite pleased at this point of the campaign and encouraged everyone to spread the news about our new facility that will enable local youth to pursue their athletic dreams and adults to continue with their healthy lifestyle.

On Monday, June 8, Mayor Bob Kilger and with MP Guy Lauzon and MPP Jim Brownell approved the two-thirds support from the federal and provincial governments for the multi-sport complex—$18.4 million in funding.
