Hockey tryouts coming soon
The Seaway Valley Minor Hockey Association is very pleased with its selection of coaches for the upcoming 2009-2010 hockey season. Leading the youngest players this year will be Frank Sinfield (Atom A) and Norm Hebert (Atom AA). At the next level up, Denis Seguin will coach the Peewee A while Shawn Blanchard will coach the Minor AA team and Denis Verville will coach the Major AA. The Minor Bantam AA players will be coached by Kevin Gabri and Ron Belmore will instruct the Major Bantam AA. Rounding out the teams with the Midget AA groups are Dan Bourassa and Rick Filion. The coaches have already begun the task of organizing and planning for the upcoming year. They have attended a few coach meetings and recently attended a clinic that was held for coaches from all over the district. Seaway Valley is holding early registration sessions for tryouts this year and planning to attend can save you money down the road. Pre-registration will take place at the Seaway Valley office (upstairs at the Bob Turner) on Thursday, July 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 8 from 9 to 11 a.m. The cost to pre-register is $60 which, this year, includes a practice jersey which the player keeps. The cost to register the day of tryouts is $75. Registration forms are available on the Seaway Valley website at www.seawayvalleyrapids.com.
