Celtics Junior B lacrosse
The Celtics started the second half of their season in a playoff position and are looking to improve their current standings. The Celtics travelled to Gloucester to take on the first-place Griffins and came out on the short end of a low-scoring affair. Gloucester scored the first three goals of the game before the Celtics answered with three of the last four goals of the game. Scoring for the Celtics were Justin Oakes with 2 and Nick Sanseverino with a single, as the Celtics lots 4–3. Assists were awarded to Jacob Ruest (2) and singles to Tyler Barnhart, Tevin Terrance and Trevor Roundpoint. In their next game against the Nepean Knights, the Celtics came out swinging, literally as two heavy weight tilts were going on at the same time, while that game was only 5 seconds old. Once the referees broke up the brawls, the Celtics stormed out to a 4–0 lead on goals by Clint Martin, Tyler Barnhart, Jordan Thomas and Owen Mitchell. Nepean scored 2 late first-period goals to head in to the second with the Celtics leading 4–2. The Celtics scored the first three goals of the second and the last 2 goals of the third to earn a hard-fought 10–5 victory. Other goal scorers were Chase Sunday, Jacob Ruest, Shawn Fontaine and Justin Oakes with two to round out the scoring. Assists were handed out to Jamie Blanchard and Justin Oakes with 3 each; Tyler Barnhart, Jacob Ruest and Chase Sunday with 2 apiece; and Jordan Thomas, Owen Mitchell, Nick Lapierre and winning goaltender Tory Bigtree each collecting one helper. The Celtics next met Orillia and once again came out on the wrong end of a low-scoring affair. Clint Martin with 2 and Jamie Blanchard with one goal and one assist led the Celtics’ attack. Jacob Ruest with 2 assists, Brett Conway and Justin Oakes were both awarded an assist during the 4–3 loss.
