Seniors teach students to curl
"Really good! I like it." "I would try it again." "Pretty fun." These were some of the comments made by Grade 7/ 8 students from St. George's Catholic School in Long Sault, during a session at the Cornwall Curling Centre on Wednesday, January 27. The group of forty-two students, accompanied by principal Roger Patenaude and teacher Paula Beauregard-Tuck, were guests of the Senior League of the Cornwall Curling Club. The event was organized by members Roger Guevremont and Wayne Lauber and the students were coached by twelve Senior curlers. It was part of an ongoing programme to introduce students in SD&G to the sport of curling. As demonstrated Wednesday, curling is a lifelong activity which can be enjoyed by the young and not so young alike. An Olympic sport, curling is played competitively and recreationally at all levels from Little Rocks at seven years old, to Grand Masters at seventy and older. The SD&G Curling Playoff will be held at the Cornwall Curling Centre on Thursday, February 11. For any further information regarding this article, please contact Roger Guevremont at 613-933-2152.
