New sign for Long Sault Plaza business owners
The official recognition on the new business sign at the main entrance to the Long Sault commercial district took place on Monday, December 21. Over the past few years, the Townships of South Stormont and South Dundas partnered to complete the Business Retention and Expansion (BR+E) Projects. Action items identified included the "Beautification of Plazas", "Entrance and Gateway Improvements", "Business Development" and more particularly, highway plaza signage. Our newly erected sign has now made this action item a reality for the Long Sault Plaza. The Ingleside Plaza sign was officially recognized earlier this year.

Along with participating business owners, the Townships of South Stormont and South Dundas, as partners, received partial funding for the *NEW* Ingleside Plaza sign from the SD&G Community Futures Development Corporation (CFDC) as part of the Eastern Ontario Development Program (EODP). The EODP is a $10 million Government of Canada initiative that promotes socio-economic development in Eastern Ontario and enables CFDCs to work with community partners to develop projects within areas such as business and community development and access to capital, etc.

Mayor McGillis stated, "South Stormont is proud to be part of this successful partnership project. We all benefit by working together, with all levels of government in conjunction with the local businesses in the Township, and with our neighbours, South Dundas".

Invited guests include, business owners, Township Council and staff, Federal MP Guy Lauzon and Provincial MPP Jim Brownell as well as representatives from the sign manufacturing and design companies, Dave’s Reliable Signs and T.D Graham.
