CORNWALL, Ontario – From 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, the Cornwall Community Hospital Foundation’s (CCHF) 11th annual radiothon will be raising money for the good cause of mental health in Cornwall and the surrounding area.
The CCHF has pledged $1.2 million for the new Centre for Addiction and Mental Health beside the hospital. So far they are halfway to their goal at $600, 000.
Cornwall’s new mental health and addictions centre is the first of its kind in Eastern Ontario. It is prepared to treat patients of all ages and conditions.
“There is now one place where people know they can go to find the help that they need,” said Amy Gillespie, Executive Director of the CCHF.
Each hour of the radiothon will be sponsored by a different business and those businesses have pledged to match donations that come in during their hour.
The title sponsor of the event is Dairy Queen, who have made the cool move and sweetened the pot by offering to sell ice cream sandwiches at the hospital during the fundraiser.
Remax will be operating the drive-thru at the Janet MacDonald Pavilion where people can drop off their donations.
Additionally, there will be a wide variety of other volunteers who will be helping to make sure that the radiothon is a success on Thursday.
“You see a great cross section of Cornwall coming together to support this cause,” said Gillespie.
On the day of the radiothon, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. the parking lot at the hospital will be open to make it easier for donors to deliver their contributions.

Up until Wednesday night at 11:59 p.m. donors who donate $100 at this link can also pick the song of their choice to play during the radiothon.
