CORNWALL, Ontario – The Cornwall Innovation Centre (CIC) has found a new home and is closer to its opening day after signing a leas with the Nav Centre in January.
The CIC is a result of the University Steering Committee, a partnership project with Carleton University between the City of Cornwall, The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne and the United Counties of SD&G.
The University Steering Committee has been active since 2014 and is dedicated to bringing niche post-secondary programs to Cornwall and the surrounding area.
“We are thrilled to move forward with this exciting opportunity for entrepreneurs of all ages and all stages of growth,” said Gerry Benson, spokesperson for the University Steering Committee, the group responsible for the initiative. “This is yet one more important catalyst for economic development in the region.”
The CIC at the Nav Centre hopes to serve as a hub for entrepreneurs in Cornwall to get mentorship, support and investment.
Some of the services that the CIC will provide include Accelerator services for startups powered by Carleton University’s Lead to Win program, one of the Top 10 business accelerator programs in North America. The CIC will also be providing workspaces, access to technologies and tools for development and incubator activities including hackathons, workshops, keynote speaker presentations and learning opportunities for business growth.
