The Iroquois Dam will remain closed until further notice.

CORNWALL, Ontario – With many now considering building an ark, Ontario Power Generation (OPG) has responded to the unseasonable amounts of rain by lowering the gates to the Iroquois Dam until further notice.

In the meantime, the gates used for recreational passage at the dam will remain closed, forcing boaters to use the Iroquois Lock for passage.

“These gates were closed due to significantly above average water flow and will remain lowered until conditions allow for safe passage through these gates,” reads a recent press release.

While there is no mention of when the gates are expected to reopen, everything is being done in accordance with operating regulations of the International Lake Ontario – St. Lawrence River Board.
