CORNWALL, Ontario – The Nav Centre was full of excitement after the much anticpated cover to the tenth edition of the Cornwall Living Magazine was revealed.

Melanie Brulée, a born and raised musician from Cornwall, graced the cover of the magazine this year.

“She is a great example of what Cornwall can offer people and where they can go given the opportunities offered here,” said Bob Peters of Choose Cornwall. “Everywhere she plays she is an ambassador for Cornwall.”

Seaway News General Manager Rick Shaver explained the goals of this year’s edition of the magazine.

“In today’s edition, the 24th in our series of business magazines and the tenth anniversary of Cornwall Living, we celebrate what makes you want to choose Cornwall,” he said.

He also highlighted some of the great stories to come out of Cornwall that the magazine was able to tell.

“It’s about how a family taking a ship from England to Canada in 1867 resulted in that family settling in Cornwall and 150 years later, a great grandson appeared as a Mouseketeer and now is a household name and successful movie star,” he said. “We look at how a young lady from Cornwall, Melanie Brulée is making a name for herself in the ever-changing world of music. How a local lad, Brian McCourt, is now a star of HGTV’s Backyard Builds. I bet you didn’t know he was from here and he used to serve you popcorn at Galaxy theatre,” he continued. “Those are just a few of the headlines in this magazine. There is so much more.”

Finally, Shaver thanked those who made the magazine possible who were in attendance.

“I get to do all the talking, but it’s the hard work of Bob Peters and Colleen ( Parette ). Thank you to both of you for once again your continued hard work and effort on the development of this magazine,” he said. “To all the staff, your efforts paid off this year as we once again outdid ourselves and have produced, I believe, and award-winning magazine.”
