Winter storm watch: Freezing rain to follow snowfall
Severe weather coming to Cornwall and area.

CORNWALL, Ontario – Environment Canada is warning that Cornwall and SD&G can expect some rough weather for this weekend.

Drivers can expect deteriorating conditions for Friday evening. By Saturday, freezing rain is expected to be thrown into the mix.

The Weather Network is predicting 1-3cm of snow to fall on Friday night, but treacherous driving conditions could occur on the roads when that mixes with freezing rain on Saturday night.

After the freezing rain has finished, snowfall is expected to resume on Sunday.

"The snow is not expected to be particularly heavy, but the overall impact of appreciable snow and freezing rain warrants a winter storm watch," Environment Canada said in a statement on its website. "Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight. Winter storm watches are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together."
