CORNWALL, Ontario – The Cornwall Community Police Service has credited a vigilant citizen for helping them with arresting escaped convict David Maracle.
"An alert civilian bystander at the Cornwall Square recognized him and informed the Cornwall Police who then made the arrest without incident," said Cst. Dan Cloutier. "I have no idea what his motive was for being in Cornwall."
Maracle had originally walked away from the Henry Trail Correctional Facility in Kingston on Jan. 22.
Cloutier said that Maracle is currently being held in the Ottawa Carelton Detention Facility and is facing an additional charge of escape from lawful custody.
