RIDE check leads to drug bust

ALEXANDRIA, Ontario – On Jan. 2, 2017 at approximately 7:42 p.m., SD&G OPP officers were conducting Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere (RIDE) checks on Main Street in the Town of Alexandria, North Glengarry Township. The check of a vehicle resulted in the seizure of quantities of suspected marijuana and cannabis resin (hash). Officers also seized a kit used to pick/punch locks.

The male driver, Jordan MACDONALD (26) of South Glengarry Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance (2 counts)
– Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
– Possession of Break-In Tools
– Fail to Comply with Recognizance (4 counts)
– Driving While Under Suspension (Highway Traffic Act)

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.

A female passenger, Amy MITCHELL (22) of Cornwall, Ontario was also arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance (2 counts)
– Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
– Possession of Break-In Tools

She was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on February 8, 2017.
