CORNWALL, Ontario – Cornwall native Ryan Gosling was awarded a Golden Globe for Best Actor for his role in the 2016 musical La La Land.

In the film Gosling plays a jazz obsessed musician named Sebastian.

Acting alongside Emma Stone, Gosling has won widespread acclaim for his skill in combining singing, dancing and acting in a single role.

Gosling was nominated for the award alongside Colin Farrell for his role in The Lobster, Hugh Grant in Florence Foster Jenkins’, Jonah Hill in War Dogs and Ryan Reynolds for his portrayal of the comicbook anti-hero Deadpool.

Gosling dedicated his award to his brother-in-law Carlos Mendes who passed away in April 2016 and thanked his wife, Eva Mendes.

Ryan Gosling grew up in Cornwall, having attended Gladstone Public School and later CCVS.
