Maple Leaf chicken products recalled due to fears of toxin
Various Maple Leaf breaded chicken products have been recalled for fears of contamination.

PROVINCE WIDE, Ontario – The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has announced that various brands of breaded chicken have been recalled by Maple Leaf Foods due to fears that they may contain toxin.

Maple Leaf issued the recall after it became aware that some of these products could have been contaminated with Staphylococcus aureus, a bacteria that produces a toxin that can cause nausea, stomach pain, fever and vomitting. In severe cases of contamination, muscle cramping and an increase in blood pressure can occur.

Consumers should not eat the following products: Maple Leaf, Chicken Breast Strips, 840 g with the following codes 2018-04-200 63100 03089 6

Sufra Halal, Chicken Burgers, 828 g,with the following codes 2018-01-200 61483 05778 3

And Mina Halal Chicken Burgers, 828 g, with the following codes 71180 63100 42143 4

“Food contaminated with Staphylococcus toxin may not look or smell spoiled,” the CFIA warning reads. “The toxin produced by Staphylococcus bacteria is not easily destroyed at normal cooking temperatures.”

The CFIA states that if you think you have purchased a recalled product to either return it to the store where you got it from, or throw it away.
