CORNWALL, Ontario – Local man Tim Gadbois had the chance to play the games and spin the wheel on the Price is Right on his trip to Los Angeles with his wife Jocelyn in April.

He said that he and his wife have always been fans of day time game shows like the Price is Right and that when Jocelyn found priority tickets, they jumped at their chance to be on-air.

“Priority ticket holders are the ones who have a chance to really be on the show,” Tim explained.

Tim said that the waiting process started at 8:30 a.m. that day, the show doesn’t start filming until 12:30 p.m., but the show has an extensive vetting process and are very selective as to who they let play.

He explained that while he was waiting, he was standing up on a bench and asking who there was also Canadian and getting everyone really riled up.

“The crazier you are, the more likely you are to get on the show,” he said. “You are all screened. Everyone has to audition and you have to be excitable and go crazy. I told my wife that the only way we’ll get on the show is if we are  very excitable and I guess I did a good job.”

He said once he was called down to the front row, he had five chances to win the first game and move forward, it wasn’t until his last chance that he guessed right and got on stage with host Drew Carey.

From there, he won his first game, and to go onto the finals in the Price is Right, each contestant has to spin a big wheel, whoever spins closest to a dollar goes on ahead.

When it was Tim’s turn to spin, he got as close as you can get, $0.95.

In the final game, Tim went up against one other contestant. Each contestant had to guess the value of their prize package without going over.

“She looked at me and said “I think I’m over” and I said ” I think you are too,”” Tim said.

In the end Tim won it all, but for him and Jocelyn, it wasn’t about the winning.

“We didn’t go for the winning,” he said. “We just went for the experience.”
