CORNWALL, Ontario – Firefighters responded to a fire at 327 Clark St. at 2:25 a.m. on Friday, July 7.

The fire displaced seven people.

Four excaped the fire on the first floor.

Three others were rescued by Cornwall Fire Services from the second story and two of those people where transported to hospital with smoke inhalation and cuts.

The City of Cornwall is reporting that this was a second alarm fire and that fire alarms were working in the building. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

“Cornwall fire crews did an astonishing job of saving the lives of three people from our community overnight,” said Cornwall Fire Chief Pierre Voisine. “The combination of working smoke alarms and quick and efficient response by Firefighters prevented a few families from having go through a nightmarish day today.
