CORNWALL, Ontario - Team Cornwall held their annual bursary presentation at City Hall on Thursday, July 6.

Eight graduating students from the high schools in Cornwall each received a $500 bursary from Team Cornwall.

Those who won were selected by their teachers not just for their academic achievement but also for their school spirit and perserverance.

"If you count the graduates in each of your schools you were picked because you were special," Team Cornwall's Peter Gault said to the winners.

"You get the chance to show your peers your are special," said Andre Pommier, who has been involved with this bursary program since its beginnings. "You get an amazing cheque and it is something that will stay with you forever."

One bursary winner, Joshua Seguin, said he felt honoured to receive such a bursary.

Seguin, a recent graduate of CCVS has been involved in his school year book, student senate, Cornwall Minor Hockey and volunteered at the Agape soup kitchen, amongst other endeavours, all while maintaining good grades.

"I always felt like someone had to step up and take initiative and felt, why not me," Seguin said.

Seguin will be studying kinesiology and Western in the fall and hopes to become a physiotherapist.
