Wanted man arrested with stolen chocolate bars

CORNWALL, Ontario – Jacob Benoit, 18, of Cornwall was arrested on Feb. 15, 2018 on the strength of a warrant and charged with theft under $5,000 and breach of recognizance for being outside his residence between certain hours.

It is alleged on Feb. 15, 2018 the man who was wanted by police on a warrant for not signing in was spotted in the area of the Cornwall Square. He was taken into custody after a brief foot chase that ended in the area of Second St. and Gloucester St. Benoit was also found to be in possession of a quantity of stolen chocolate bars. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

BREAK AND ENTER, BREACH

CORNWALL, Ontario – Justin Rainey, 29, of Cornwall was arrested on Feb. 15, 2018 and charged with two break and enters that occurred at local businesses on Feb. 3, 2018. He was also charged with breach of recognizance and probation for failing to keep the peace. Rainey was also found to have breached his probation order for attending a certain business, being within 100 meters of that location and for being outside his residence between the hours of 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. It is alleged on Feb. 3, 2018 the man forced his way into two local businesses and removed a quantity of money. Police were contacted and investigations ensued. On Feb. 15, 2018The man was spotted by an off duty member of the Cornwall Community Police Service. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
