MORRISBURG, Ontario – Celebrate Canada recently announced some exciting news for Pumpkinferno’s sesquicentennial season. This year, both Fort Henry’s Lumina Borealis and Upper Canada Village’s fall Pumpkinferno will receive a combined $200,000 in funding towards event enhancements.
Already drawing in over 95,000 visitors, and generating roughly $9.5 M annually, the funding hopes to make Canada 150 the most memorable year to date at these parks.
“The funding will also be used to create new Canada 150 themed exhibits at Pumpkinferno that highlight Canadian culture and heritage over 150 years,” said the St. Lawrence Parks Commission (SLPC). “From the fur traders to the Group of Seven to a celebration of Canada’s north and sport, Pumpkinferno will be a must-see fall stop to mark Canada’s sesquicentennial.”
The SLPC has made huge strides in creating and nurturing events which consistently draw thousands of visitors to south eastern Ontario.
Celebrate Ontario’s investment plays a critical role in developing these events, as well as encouraging visitors to return year after year Large scale special events like this act as an important catalyst for shoulder season tourism to the region.
