CORNWALL, Ontario – Environment Canada is predicting that Cornwall and the surrounding region will expect March to go out with cold and snow.

The Special Weather Statement issued for the region by Environment Canada states that snow is forecast to start falling on Thursday evening and will continue into Friday afternoon.

The snowfall is not expected to be particularly heavy with an average of 5 to 10 centimetres falling in most areas, but some parts of the region can expect more.

“At this time, it does not seem likely that snowfall warnings will be required,” the statement reads. “However some uncertainty remains, and the evolution of this weather system continues to be monitored closely.”

Environment Canada does warn however that freezing rain could be mixed in with the falling snow.
