ST. LAWRENCE SEAWAY, Ontario – The Cornwall Regional Task Force (CRTF) including elements of the RCMP, OPP and CBSA canvassed the St. Lawrence shoreline on Wednesday, June 21.

They, along with their partners in the United States, Valleyfield and Akwesasne the CRTF was seeking to reachout to property owners along the St. Lawrence River from Iroquois to the City of Cornwall.

The goal of this surge was to reach out to the community to inform them of the importance of border security and answer and questions or concerns they might have.

“Collaborative efforts such as this solidify our partnerships with the various law enforcement agencies, both in Canada and the US that are dedicated to border integrity”, said Insp. Steve Ethier, Officer in charge of the Cornwall Regional Task Force.

The second goal of this surge was to conduct high visibility patrols along the river. These patrols were conducted on land, in the water and in the air via helicopter.

The plan was to conduct a second day of patrols on Thursday, June 22.
