DUNVEGAN, Ontario – The Glengarry Pioneer Museum in Dunvegan will be the receipient of a $25, 000 donation.

The donation is coming from the Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group. The donation is one way the group is recognizing Canada’s 150th anniversary.

Commonwell is dividing up $150, 000 across six Ontario heritage organizations and the Glengarry Pioneer Museum was one of the organizations selected.

The Glengarry Pioneer Museum has been in operation since 1962 and has ten buildings on site that have historical significance to Glengarry.

“As a community-based business celebrating our own legacy of 122 years, we recognized Canada 150 as a perfect moment to step up and specifically help these organizations in their important work to remember, recount and reenact our shared history for future generations,” said Tim Shauf, President and CEO of The Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group.

The $25, 000 cheque will be presented to the museum in the coming days and the museum’s board will then decide how to invest the money.
