CORNWALL, Ontario - A second taste might not be enough at Lift-Off’s newest fundraiser.

Lift-Off's 'Bacon & Beer Bonanza’ is taking place on Saturday, March 1 at Nativity Hall.

As the music and hot air balloon festival preps for its 20th anniversary, a blue collar alternative to fancy wine and cheese galas will be combining bacon, beer, games, and live music.

Lift-Off co-chair Jason Jesmer guarantees the inaugural ‘Bacon & Beer Bonanza’ happening on Saturday, March 1 at Nativity Hall is your chance to pig out.

“People can expect lots of bacon in a variety of forms...thanks to Olymel our ‘Bacon Partner’ and the various caterers that are going to be on hand serving up bacon delights,” said Jesmer.

A bacon eating contest, silent auction, and live entertainment provided by ‘Busker’s Dream’ will begin when the doors open at 8 p.m.

The $25 cover charge per person is a modest fee considering the grand prize of the evening is a year’s supply of bacon.

“The Bacon & Beer Bonanza will help Lift-Off get off the ground this summer,” he said.

Festival organizers are still working on this year’s musical lineup, which they expect to announce in May.

“Like always timing is everything. We need to be patient when sourcing the bands,” said Jesmer.

He encourages anyone interested in volunteering with Lift-Off to visit www.lift-off.ca or e-mail volunteer@lift-off.ca.
