SAVARD – Ronald

Passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2008. Mr. Ronald Henry Alexander Savard of Cornwall, Ontario, age 67 years. Beloved husband of the late Irma (Payment) Savard (March, 2007). Dear father of Christopher (Chris) Savard and Rhonda Simpson (Kevin), both of Cornwall. Loving grandfather of Cameron, Cassidy, Jenna, Madison, Carter and Mckenna. Dear son of the late Claude Savard and the late Alma (Lepage) Savard. Rested at Lahaie & Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Homes, West Branch. Funeral, Nov. 29, for Mass of Christian Burial in St. Columban’s Church. Interment, Notre Dame Cemetery.

JANS – Gerald (Gerrit)

Passed away after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Mr. Gerald John Jans of Maxville, Ontario, age 75 years. Loving husband of 50 years to his devoted wife, Christina. Proud father of Gary (Sylvie), Doreen (Troy Austrins), John (Harriet), Jackie and Grace (Christian Bailey). Opa to David, Kevin, Brian, Justina, Michael, Clara, Ava and Oliver. Great-Opa to Gabrielle and special Opa to Kyle, Tyler, Philip and Joanna. Predeceased and survived by brothers and sisters in the Netherlands, Canada and Australia and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Gerald loved his life as a dairy farmer and working the land. He was especially proud of Glenstor Farm, the farm that he and Christina purchased after arriving from the Netherlands. His later years were spent at the Maxville Manor. Many thanks to the staff who took such wonderful care of Gerald and the Alzheimer’s Society for their support over the years. Special thanks to Maryse Bouvette with Elisabeth Bruyere for the palliative support. Rested at the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd. South Maxville, Ontario. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. James Catholic Church, Maxville on Nov. 28.

LEMIEUX – Roger

Passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2008. Mr. Roger Damien Lemieux of Alexandria, Ontario, (Retired Canada Post Clerk, Town of Alexandria), age 67 years. Dear brother of Alma Lemieux and brother-in-law of Therese Lemieux and Teresa Lemieux, all of Alexandria. Predeceased by his parents, Vhilo Lemieux and Christine Quesnel, five brothers, Robert (late Denise), Bruno (late Claire), Maurice (late Rhea), Leo and Raymond Lemieux and by one sister, Claire Lemieux. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Rested at the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd, Alexandria. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Église Sacré-Coeur, Alexandria on Nov. 28.

AMELOTTE – Omer Joseph Charles

Passed away at the Cornwall Community Hospital on Monday, November 24, 2008, age 91 years. He leaves his loving wife of 65 years, Grace (Beaudette) Amelotte. Dear father of June Eden (late James), Jean St. Jean (Raymond), Larry Amelotte (Paulette), Brian Amelotte (Lise), Raymond Amelotte (Suzanne), Douglas Amelotte (Karen) all of Cornwall, Reginald Amelotte (Laurie) of Calgary, Lorraine Wintle (Stephen ) of South Lancaster and Karen Yarwood (Randy) of St. Catharines. Sadly missed by 22 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Survived by 4 brothers, Rene Amelotte (Colombe), Albert Amelotte (Ephie), John Amelotte (Mary), Roma Amelotte (Alice) all of Cornwall and 1 sister, Edna Leroux (late Alfred) of Georgia, USA. Predeceased by 1 son, Carey Amelotte, his parents, Edmond and Emma (Richard) Amelotte and 1 brother, Wilfred Amelotte (late Muriel). LAFRAMBOISE – Frances Marie (Mallette)

Passed away at the Cornwall Community Hospital on Monday, November 24, 2008, age 77 years. She leaves her loving husband of 59 years, William (Bill) Laframboise. Dear mother of Dianna (Rick), Brenda (Glenn) and Jeff (Kim). Sadly missed by 8 grandchildren, Chantal, Scott, Mark, Tara-Jade, Taylor, Brandon, Krista, Kandice and 5 great-grandchildren, Justin, Jacob, McKenna, Dru and Hudson. Survived by one brother, Cletus Mallette and her many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law in the Laframboise family. Predeceased by her parents, Frank and Eva (Miron) Mallette, one brother, William Mallette (Emma) and one sister Bertha Mallette. Funeral Mass on Nov. 29 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, followed by Cremation. Rite of Committal, St. Columban’s Parish Cemetery at a later date.

LAPLANTE – Alexander John (Bud)

Passed away at the Cornwall Community Hospital on Sunday, November 23, 2008, age 85 years. He leaves his loving wife of 58 years, Janine “Nean” (Montpetit) Laplante. Dear father of Don (Claire), Dan (Sandy) and Jennifer. Sadly missed by 4 grandchildren, Melanie (Brenton), Chris (Lianne), Josh and Nicholas and 5 great-grandchildren, Caleb, Tyler, Mia, Ethan and Sophie. Survived by his niece, Michelle. Predeceased by his parents, Alexander and Jennie (Grant) Laplante, his sister Daphne and half-sisters, Rhea, Olga, Genevieve and Pat and half-brothers, Donald and Rex. Peacefully, after a long courageous battle with COPD at the Winchester Hospital, with her loving children by her side on Saturday, November 22, 2008 Margaret June Brown of Morrisburg, formerly of Toronto, in her 80th year. Beloved wife of the late William Brown (1961). Cherished mother of Laura Breur (Jamie Doyle) of Ottawa & Robert (Mary) of Brantford. Loving grandmother of Kimberly Breur (Robert Wiseman) of Montreal, Julie Breur (Pierre Voisine) of Rockland, Adam Breur of Montreal, Juston and Blair Brown of Brantford and great-grandmother of twins Samuel & Emmet Wiseman of Montreal and Madeliene Voisine of Rockland. A Memorial Service was held at the Parker Funeral Home, Morrisburg. The Rev. Peter Praamsma officiated. Inurnment Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto.

RUPERT – George Jacob

Passed away at the Ottawa Hospital (General Campus) on Saturday, November 22, 2008, age 82 years. He leaves his loving wife of 58 years, Theresa (Amell) Rupert. Survived by one sister Eva Whitmore and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Cecile H. and Lula F. (Hartle) Rupert and two brothers, Enos (Mary) and Lawrence. Passed away at the Cornwall Community Hospital, McConnell Site on Saturday, November 22, 2008. Mr. Willie Eugene Dion of Cornwall, Ontario, age 81 years. Beloved husband for 59 years of Fleurette (Labelle) Dion. Loving father of Susan (Princess) Dion and Gertrude Rafei (Ahmad) both of Cornwall. Cherished grandfather of Craig Dion (Jennifer), Sara and Hassan Rafei. Predeceased by one granddaughter, Tanya Lalande-Dion. Dear great-grandfather of Jordan and Zoey Dion, Brittany Gordon and Dominique Lalande. Beloved son of the late Romeo Dion and the late Alice (Poudrier) Dion. Predeceased by 4 brothers, Maurice, Marcel, Gerard and Wilson Dion and by one sister, Gertrude Dion. Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Peacefully at the Winchester Hospital on Thursday, November 20, 2008 Frank “Ted” Edward Dixon of Morrisburg in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of Betty-Jean. Dear father of James at home, Ken (Wendy) of Pincourt, QC, Greg (Charlene) of Ile Perrot, QC and John (Lisa) of Glen Sandfield, ON. Cherished grandfather of Jennifer, David and Leila, all of QC. Passed away at the Cornwall Community Hospital, McConnell Site on Wednesday, November 19, 2008. Margaret Doreen (Clarke) Morrison of Cornwall, Ontario, age 76 years. Dear mother of John Eaton of Oshawa, Ontario and Sharron Eaton (Mike Galt) of Cornwall. Much loved grandmother of Allison and Donald McCuaig. Dear daughter of the late Hugh Clarke and the late Margaret (O’Malia) Clarke. Dear sister of Bev Levitt of Las Vegas, Nevada. Predeceased by one brother, Hugh M. Clarke. Passed away at the Ottawa General Hospital on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 formerly of Maxville at the age of 61 years. Beloved wife of Real Lalonde. Loving mother of Tamela Emond (George) and Chantal Lalonde (Rick) both of Cornwall and Lisa Lacombe (Rocky) and Jason lalonde (Sarah) both of Maxville. Dear sister of the late Lionel (late Doris), the late Edmond (Pearl) of Cornwall, Gerald (Carmen) and Beatrice (Rene Dupuis) both of Dominionville, the late Florida (Edmond Beriault) of North Lancaster, Wilfred (Lucy), Geraldine (Ronnie Proulx), Jean King and Donna (Adolphus McCormick) all of Cornwall, the late Anita (Jan-Guy Giroux of Hawkesbury), and the late Eugene. Dear daughter of the late Fernand Derouchie and the late Agnes Robinson. Surivived by 8 grandchildren Adam (Alexa), Kayla, Brandon, Alexis, Christy, Emily, Colby and Winter Rose. McMARTIN – Rita Mary Louise (Robinson)

Passed away at the Cornwall Community Hospital – McConnell Site on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 formerly of Ingleside at the age of 82 years. Beloved wife of the late George McMartin. Dear mother of Ronald McMartin (Maureen) of Cornwall. Loving grandmother of Sean, Sarah, Emily and Thomas. Predeceased by 2 sons Donald and Gerald McMartin. Dear daughter of the late John Robinson and the late Alice Robinson. Dear sister of Rene Robinson (Iva) of Ingleside, Clifford Robinson of British Columbia, Gerald Robinson of Edmonton, Allan Robinson (Donna) of Ottawa, Lorna Lalonde of Cornwall and Bernice Popelyak (Leslie) of Uxbridge. Predeceased by 3 brothers Raymond, Maurice and Delbert Robinson and 2 sisters Norma Quenneville and Janet Hart. Rested at Lahaie and Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Homes West Branch. Funeral took place on Friday, November 21 for Mass of Christian Burial in St. Columban’s Church. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery.

DORMAN – Donald David

Passed away at the Ottawa Hospital, Civic Campus on Monday, November 17, 2008, age 66 years. (Dave was a Graduate of RMC Class of 1967 B.Sc. Engineering; Retired Professor at St. Lawrence College; Coach/Coordinator of the Cornwall Legion Cougars Track Club for 38 years and was also inducted into the Cornwall Sports Hall of Fame). Beloved husband of 42 years to the former Marilyn McCann. Loved father of John-David Dorman (Lisa) of Ottawa, Ontario and Andrea Dorman of Cornwall, Ontario. Sadly missed by his four grandchildren, Emily, Allison, Sage and Ayden Dorman, as well as his brother Harvey Lloyd Dennis Dorman (Susan) of Ottawa. Predeceased by his parents, Donald and Phyllis (Cole) Dorman. Rested at the Wilson Funeral Home. A Memorial Service in celebration of Dave’s life was held in the Chapel of the Funeral Home on Nov. 22. The Reverend Jim Leland of Knox St. Paul’s United Church celebrated. Interment at a later date in Hillcrest Cemetery, Smiths Falls, Ontario.
