SEGUIN, Rita

Peacefully surrounded by her family at the Cornwall Community Hospital, McConnell Site, on Sunday, January 24, 2010. Rita Seguin (nee Durocher) of Maxville, Ontario, born March 1, 1929. Beloved wife of the late George Seguin. Loving mother of Roger of Maxville, Bernice Valley (Harry) of Embrun, Fernande Benedict (Robert) of Cornwall, Bernard (Lynn) of Moose Creek, Claude of Cornwall and Gilles (Dawna Miller) of Maxville. Proud grandmother of 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Rita is survived by her brothers, Omer of Picton, Ontario and John of Cornwall. Beloved husband of the late Hermina (Mien) van den Oetelaar. Loving father of Theodore (Cindy) of Alexandria, Frances (Pat Quin) of Kemptville, Eric of Cornwall, Bonnie (Edward McDonald) of Alexandria and Sindy (Noel Leger) of Glen Robertson. Fondly remembered by his 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Missed by his best friend and partner Margaret van den Oetelaar of Durham. FROSTAD, Vernon

Vern Frostad peacefully at his residence on Thursday January 21, 2010 at the age of 88 years. A Veteran of WWII – RCAF, Vern continued flying becoming a flight instructor on jets. He further distinguished himself by becoming an original member of the Silver Stars Acrobatic Flying Team in 1953; an elite group of pilots who shortly thereafter became known as the Canadian Forces Snowbirds. Later, he became the proprietor of the former Shell Service Centre in Bainsville, Ontario. His passion for flight continued beyond his military career. In 1970 he was instrumental in clearing the land to establish what is now known as the Cornwall Regional Airport. He remained active there as Chief Pilot for some time, and did so willingly without pay. In December of 2009 Vern was recognized for this key role when the commercial area of the airport was designated “The Vern Frostad Aviation Business Park“. He is survived by his beloved wife Beverley (Kimberley) “Kim“ Frostad. Loved father of Kaaren Kalil (Rick), Eric Frostad (Barbara), Kim Frostad (Terry), Leif Frostad (Armie), John Frostad (Cindy); as well as his step- children Anthony Bateman, Janet Kirkland, Alison Bateman, and Jason Bateman. Sadly missed by numerous grandchildren and his sister Irene Mallock. Predeceased by his brothers George and Bob Frostad, and his sisters Evelyn Ewing and Ruby Bridger. Resting at the Wilson Funeral Home 822 Pitt Street, Cornwall where visitation will be held on Monday From 2-4 & 7-9 PM, and Tuesday 12 Noon until the time of service. Funeral service will be held in the chapel of the Wilson Funeral Home on Tuesday January 26, 2010 at 2:00 PM. Cremation to follow.
