POIRIER – Rene “Nack”

Passed away at the Cornwall Community Hospital, McConnell Site on Monday, October 6, 2008, age 85 years. Beloved husband and soul mate of 65 years to Kathleen “Peggy” Donohoe of Cornwall, Ontario. Dear father to Judy Fishwick (Peter), Michael Poirier (Helen), John Poirier (Brenda), all of Cornwall. Loving “Poppy” to Tracey, Kristan, Lori, Dean, Lisa, Kimberley, Crystal, Robin and Kelly and will be sadly missed by 19 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents, Lionel Poirier and Alice Pilon, by his brothers, Hormidas, Clarence and Harvey and his sisters Beatrice, Blanche and Doreen. Rested at the Wilson Funeral Home. The Mass of the Resurrection with Commendation and Farewell was celebrated in St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church on Oct. 9. Rite of Committal at a later date in Notre Dame Cemetery, Cornwall.

BROWN – Francis

Passed away at the Ottawa Civic Hospital on Monday, October 6, 2008. Mr. Francis George Brown of Greenfield, Ontario, age 70 years. Beloved husband of Mary Brown (née Poirier). Loving father of Ann Brown, Alma Brown, George Brown, Debbie Campbell and Susan Cuillerier, all of Cornwall, Ontario, Clint of Alexandria, Ontario and Peter of Greenfield. Dear brother of Gerald of Windsor, Ontario. Predeceased by six brothers, Adelore, Ronald, Jimmy, Bill, Alfred and Charles Brown and by three sisters. Dear son of the late Frederick Brown and the late Lillian Deprade. Survived by sixteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Rested at the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd., Maxville. Passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2008. Mr. Jean Robidoux of Alexandria, Ontario, age 74 years. Beloved husband of Lorraine Ménard. Beloved wife of the late Ernest St. Denis. Dear mother of Denis St. Denis of Dundee, Quebec, Richard St. Denis, Yvon St. Denis (Suzanne), Nicole Vivarais (Gerry), Suzanne Tessier (Bob), Collette Depatie (Johnny), Carole Brousseau (Gerry) and Denise Latulippe (Serge), all of Cornwall. Predeceased by one son, Jean-Jacques. Loving grandmother of 21 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Dear daughter of the late Jean-Baptiste Menard and the late Elodie (Ladouceur) Menard. Passed away at his residence on Saturday, October 4, 2008, formerly of Cornwall at the age of 87 years. Founding owner of O. Charlebois Aluminum, past member of the Richelieu Club and a life member of the Knights of Columbus and served overseas with the R.C.A.F. in WW II stationed in Whitehouse, England and Germany. Beloved husband of the late Marielle (Lamarre) Charlebois. Dear father of Ronald Charlebois of Nelson, B.C., and Claudette Charlebois of Laval, Quebec. Predeceased by one son Robert Charlebois. Loving grandfather of Celine Dixon and great-grandfather of Braedan Dixon, both of Sherwood Park, Alberta. Dear son of the late Procule Charlebois and the late Alexina (Lalonde) Charlebois. Dear brother of André Charlebois (Mariette) and Hélène Corriveau (Alexandre) both of Cornwall. Longtime companion of Sue Gellert. Predeceased by three brothers, Idola, Alfred and Gérard Charlebois and by eight sisters, Rev. Sister Alida Charlebois (C.N.D.), Edméria Charlebois, Germaine Charlebois, Marie Anne Dufresne, Thérèse Landry, Antoinette Landry, Yvonne Charlebois and Alice Brunet. Passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his family on Thursday, October 2, 2008, formerly of Alexandria at the age of 78 years. Beloved husband of Gertrude Ranger (née Lefebvre). Loving father of Yvon Ranger, Lise Ranger and Luc Ranger (Nathalie) all of Alexandria. Cherished grandfather of Nicholas and Samantha. Dear brother of Eva Leger of St. Isidore. Predeceased by his parents Joseph Ranger and Emilianna Lanthier, his sisters, Yvette Wathier, Annette Lefebvre, Noella Carrière-Parent, Carmelle Charbonneau and by his brothers, Hervé and Léon Ranger. TAILLON – Beverley (Poapst)

Passed away at the Cornwall Community Hospital on Thursday, October 2, 2008 with her daughter Jennifer Taylor (Scott) and her mother Hazel (Russell) Amell at her side at the age of 62 years. Dear sister of Lorna, Carol (Barrie), Gordon (Janice) and Mary-Frances. She will be sadly missed by nieces and nephews, Kelly, Colin, Andrea, Nathan, Taylor, Amanda and Bradley and her loving granddaughter Grace Taylor. Predeceased by her father Howard Douglas Poapst. Funeral took place on Monday, October 6. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery.

LAVIGNE – Irene

Passed away peacefully at Hawkesbury & District General Hospital on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 formerly of Alfred, Alexandria and St. Bernardin at the age of 71 years. Beloved daughter of the late Alfred Lavigne and the late Edeline Robinson. Dear sister of Betty Cousineau (William) of Moose Creek, the late Eva St. John (Hormidas) of Moose Creek, the late Frederick Lavigne (Pauline) of Alexandria, the late Roderick Lavigne (late Lucille), the late Wilfrid Lavigne (Linda) of Calgary and Helen of Alexandria and the late Claudette Lavigne. Sadly missed by her roommate and friend Reina Piette of Alfred and by her many nieces and nephews. Funeral took place on Monday, October 6 at St. Catherine of Sienna Church. Cremation. Passed away at the Cornwall Community Hospital, McConnell Site on Tuesday, September 30, 2008. Mrs. Hattie May Massia (née MacCuaig) of Cornwall, Ontario, formerly of Alexandria, Ontario, age 80 years. Predeceased by her husband and true love, Leo Massia (2001). Dear mother of Marilyn King (John), Debbie Renaud (Tony), Beverly Theoret (Emile Jr.), Sheryle Meldrum (Douglas), Monica Lauzon (Michel), Philip Massia (Marjorie), Patricia Lajoie, Luana Girard (Tom) and Deneene Lefebvre (Jacques). Precious Nanny to 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one expected great-grandchild. Survived by her sister, Grace Pidgeon. Predeceased by her parents, Dan MacCuaig and Martha Downey, her sisters, Mary Belle Pidgeon, Donalda Thievierge, Florence Massia and Cassie Cardinal and by her brothers, Duncan and Hughie Dan MacCuaig. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Rested at the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes, Alexandria. A small and intimate funeral service was held in the funeral home on Oct. 4. Interment, Alexandria United Church Cemetery, Alexandria.
