It’s that time of year again: when students and teachers rejoice, while parents quake with fear…what to do for March Break?
For those who aren’t lucky enough to be heading south for some much-need warm weather, there is plenty in and around Cornwall to keep the kiddies busy next week.
Activities taking place at the Benson Centre include art workshops, for children aged five to 12, from 10:30 a.m. to noon for $12 a lesson including creating a super hero, Little Chefs-Hawaii Five, St. Patty’s Day party, Easter egg crafts and egg hunt and a zumba dance party. Also, from 1-3 p.m., children aged five to 12 can enjoy a variety of sports workshops for $12 each.
From March 13-15, the Benson Centre will be hosting pick-up hockey for novice, atom, peewee and bantam players.
The City of Cornwall is also hosting a “Recre-Action Camp” for children aged five to 12 from March 12-16, 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. at $130 for the week. The camp includes a full day of physical activity from sports and active games, including outdoor play and camp outings with other events such as arts and crafts.
If your child is a little older you might want to consider free art workshops which will be held on the lower level of the Cornwall Square from March 12-15, 1-3 p.m. for ages four to 15. Activities for various age groups will be offered daily and include a collective painting easter mural, abstract watercolour, rock painting, sponge art, designing beaded bracelets and earrings, as well as face painting.
The Cornwall Public Library will host events throughout the week. On March 12 at 2 p.m., kids and teens have the opportunity to watch Puss in Boots for free. March 13, there will be a “Furry Super Heroes” dog demonstration in program rooms one and two from 1-2 p.m.
And suppose the weather co-operates next week? Cooper Marsh will host daily themed camp days starting Monday. Registration is required.
