Courtaulds lot will become housing development

Construction is expected to begin later this year on a new housing development on the former Courtaulds property in Cornwall.

Last night city council put its stamp of approval on the first phase of the project, dubbed the Belfort Estates subdivision.

A scaled-back version of the development received approval from the Ministry of Environment last month.

City councillors praised Cornwall’s brownfields program while approving the project.

Some 38 lots (14 singles, 13 small-lot single dwellings and 11 semi-detached lots) will be included in the first phase of the project, on nine acres
