UPDATE: Three injured in Highway 138 crash

Three people have been rushed to hospital after a spectacular head-on collision at Highway 138 and Headline Road.

The front ends of two vehicles – a van and a car – are completely destroyed.

Police had closed Highway 138 in both directions but it has since been re-opened.

An OPP investigation indicates that a 2000 Ford Windstar was heading north when the vehicle strayed into the southbound lane, striking a 2009 Toyota. The reason behind this is unknown.

The driver of the van, 17-year-old Liam Chaussie of St. Andrews West, was taken to Cornwall Community Hospital where he was treated and released.

Luc Geuvin, 35, and his male passenger, who were traveling in the Toyota, were airlifted to Ottawa Civic Hospital.

SD&G OPP officers and OPP technical traffic investigators are continuing to investigate.

The South Stormont Fire Department, ambulance and police were all on scene Monday evening. The accident occured at around 5 p.m.
