CORNWALL, Ontario – A collection of 65 local quilters is celebrating 20 years of sewing and stitching by hosting its own show in Cornwall.
The Cornwall Quilters Guild is presenting the “Quilts of the Seaway” during a two-day showcase at Trinity Anglican Church.
The guild is marking 20 years this year, and Sharon Magee, the show co-ordinator, said in an interview members wanted to do something special on the occasion.
“This is basically the first time we’ve ever done something like a big show,” she said.
The show runs April 19 (1 to 8 p.m.) and 20 (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) in the church hall.
Quilts will also be on display in the church itself.
Nearly a dozen vendors from eastern Ontario will be at the show, as well as a boutique where members of the guild will be selling their hand-made items.
More than 180 quilts, jackets and wall hangings will also be on display and for sale.
Admission to the event is $6.
The guild has made quilts in the past for Hospice Cornwall, St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre amd Habitat for Humanity, among others.
