Police Briefs: March 1, 2014

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Kimberly Laird, 33 of Cornwall was arrested on February 27th, 2014 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged that the woman failed to attend court on February 20th, 2014 and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On February 27th, 2014 the woman attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody and later released to attend court on April 1st, 2014.

ASSAULT, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, INTIMIDATION, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 29-year-old Inkerman man was arrested on February 26th, 2014 and charged with assault, assault with a weapon, intimidation and breach of probation for having consumed alcohol and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on February 26th, 2014 the man was involved in a verbal argument with his 33-year-old girlfriend when he threw items at her, threatened to harm her and pushed the woman to the ground. Police were contacted to attend the Ninth Street apartment and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man who was under the influence of alcohol was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – A 35-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on February 26th, 2014 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged that a probation warrant had been issued for the arrest of the man for having breached his conditional sentence. On February 26th, 2014 police attended the Cornwall Courthouse as the man was being held in custody for an unrelated matter. The warrant was executed by police and the man remained in custody to await a bail hearing. His name was not released as the warrant stems from a domestic matter and might identify the victim in the incident.

Cornwall, On – Marcel Delorme, 49 of Cornwall was arrested on February 26th, 2014 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged that a warrant had been issued for the arrest of the man as he breached his probation order and his whereabouts was unknown. On February 26th, 2014 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody and later released with a court date of April 3rd, 2014.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Dustin Bedingfield, 24 of Cornwall was arrested on February 26th, 2014 and charged with breaching his probation order and conditional sentence order for having consumed alcohol, marihuana and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on February 26th, 2014 police attended his residence to confirm the man was abiding by his conditions. The man was found to be in breach of his conditions therefore taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Kyle Shaver, 27 of Morrisburg was arrested on February 27th, 2014 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged that on February 27th, 2014 the man was spotted walking in the area of McConnell Avenue and Second Street by a member of the Cornwall Community Police. Upon speaking with the man it was learned that the man was wanted on a warrant for failing to report as directed. He was taken into custody and held for a bail hearing.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on February 25th, 2014 and charged with breaching her probation order and recognizance for not abiding by house rules and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on February 23rd, 2014 the youth failed to return home at a pre-arranged time as per house rules. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On February 25th, 2014 the youth attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as per provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Cornwall, ON – A 35-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on February 25th, 2014 for breaching his conditional sentence order. It is alleged that on February 25th, 2014 during a traffic stop the man was found to be in the presence of his 25-year-old ex-wife despite being on conditions not to. He was taken into custody and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as the matter stems from a domestic incident and may identify the victim.

BREAK AND ENTER

Cornwall, ON – Crystal Square, 31 of Cornwall was arrested on February 25th, 2014 and charged with break and enter. It is alleged that on February 25th, 2014 the intoxicated woman forced her way into a friend’s apartment while no one was home. When the tenant returned to the apartment the woman refused to leave and police were contacted. During their investigation police took the woman into custody, charged her accordingly and later released her to appear in court on March 25th, 2014.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Peter Ghilcig, 47 of Cornwall was arrested on February 20th, 2014 and charged with breach of undertaking for failing to appear for prints and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on February 12th, 2014 the man failed to attend for prints as directed. On February 20th, 2014 police attended the man’s residence, took him into custody and charged him accordingly. The man was the held for a bail hearing.

Cornwall, ON- Natalie Cole, 22 of Cornwall was arrested on February 20th, 2014 and charged with failing to attend court and for failing to attend for prints. She was also charged with breaching a probation order for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on February 6th, 2014 the woman failed to attend for prints and on February 20th, 2014 failed to attend for court. On February 20th, 2014 police attended the woman’s residence took her into custody and charged her accordingly. She was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.

BREACH, THEFT UNDER

Cornwall, ON – Laura Primeau, 26 of St-Andrews was arrested on February 20th, 2014 on the strength of a warrant and charged with theft under $5000 along with two counts of breach of undertaking and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on February 20th, 2014 the woman entered a Second Street grocery store and removed items from the store making no attempts to pay for them. The woman was stopped by the Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. The woman was taken into custody for the theft and it was learned that she was also wanted on a warrant as she failed to attend court on February 6th, 2014 for a separate theft under charge. The woman was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.

THEFT, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Bonnie Thompson, 42 of Cornwall was arrested on February 22nd, 2014 and charged with three counts of theft under $5000 and three counts of breach of undertaking for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on two occasions in the month of February, 2014 the woman entered a Brookdale Avenue Store and removed a generator making no attempts to pay for it. On a separate occasion the woman was stopped by store staff as she attempted to leave the store with a television that she had not paid for. The woman fled the scene and police were contacted to investigate. On February 22nd, 2014 the woman attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on March 25th, 2014.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – Barbara McNaul, 47 of Cornwall was arrested on February 22nd, 2014 and charged with assault. It is alleged that on February 20th, 2014 while at the Benson Center the woman was involved in an argument with another woman when she poked the woman in the face with her finger and grabbed her by the arm. On February 21st, 2014 police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On February 22nd, 2014 the woman attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on March 25th, 2014.

Cornwall, ON – A 43-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on February 22nd, 2014 and charged with assault. It is alleged that on two occasions the man grabbed his 25-year-old girlfriend by the neck and pushed her back. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On February 22nd, 2014 during their investigation police attended a Hamilton Crescent address and took the man into custody. He was charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on March 19th, 2014. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

Cornwall, On – A 51-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on February 22nd, 2014 and charged with three counts of assault. It is alleged that on February 22nd, 2014 the intoxicated man attended his 50-year-old girlfriend’s residence and an argument ensued. During the argument he grabbed his girlfriend by the arm and struck a 25-year-old woman in the ribs as she was attempting to intervene. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation it was also learned that the man also assaulted the woman in December, 2013 when he kicked her in the ribs. Police took the man into custody, charged him accordingly and held him for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victims in the matter.

BREACH, PERSONATION, OBSTRUCT POLICE

Cornwall, ON – Dustin George, 24 of Akwesasne and Sasha Knox, 25 of Cornwall were arrested on February 23rd, 2014. Dustin George was charged with breaching his recognizance for being with someone that he has conditions not to be with and being away from his residence. He is also charged with breaching his probation for failing to keep the peace. Sasha Knox was charged with obstruct police, personation and breach of undertaking for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on February 23rd, 2014 the couple was stopped at the port of entry and Dustin George who was found to be breaching his conditions was taken into custody, while the woman who falsely identified herself was permitted to leave. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation they assumed custody of the man and charged him accordingly. Investigation also revealed the true identity of the woman who later attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody and charged accordingly. The woman was later released to appear in court on April 1st, 2014 while the man was held for a bail hearing.

PERSONATION, OBSTRUCT POLICE, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Shawna Mitchell, 35 of Cornwall was arrested on February 18th, 2014 and charged with obstruct police, personation and breach of undertaking for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on February 18th, 2014 during a traffic stop in the area of Bedford Street and Seventh Street the woman falsely identified herself as another woman to police. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on March 20th, 2014. She was also charged for driving while suspended under the Highway Traffic Act.

THREATS

Cornwall, ON – Jason Benoit, 35 of Richmond, ON was arrested on February 18th, 2014 and charged with threats to life. It is alleged that on February 14th, 2014 the man threatened to shoot and kill a 20-year-old Cornwall man during a phone call. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On February 18th, 2014 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Jonathan Duruchie , 40 of Cornwall was arrested on February 18th, 2014 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of undertaking for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on February 14th, 2014 the man entered a local convenience store, selected several items then left the store making no attempts to pay for them. On February 18th, 2014 police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was spotted by police walking in the area of Water Street and Race Street, he was taken into custody and charged accordingly. The man was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.

WARRANT, DRUGS

Cornwall, ON – Marc Hurtubise, 41of Cornwall was arrested on February 17th, 2014 on the strength of a warrant and also charged with possession of a controlled substance. It is alleged that during a traffic stop in the area of Montreal Road and McConnell Avenue on February 17th, 2014 it was learned that the man a passenger in the vehicle was wanted by the RCMP and a warrant had been issued for his arrest. The man was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and charged accordingly as he was found to be in possession of a small quantity of marihuana. The man was later turned over to a member of the Joint Task Force in order to deal with the warrant.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Nikala High, 21 of Cornwall was arrested on February 14th, 2014 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged that the woman failed to attend court for an assault charge and a warrant was issued for her arrest. A second warrant was also issued for failing to comply with her probation order. On February 14th, 2014 the Cornwall Community Police attended the Gatineau Courthouse in Quebec and assumed custody of the woman as she was being held on the strength of Cornwall’s warrants. She was transported to Cornwall and held for a bail hearing.

Cornwall, ON – Matthew Walker, 21 of Cornwall was arrested on February 15th, 2014 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged that the man failed to attend court on December 16th, 2013 for drug related charges and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On February 15th, 2014 during a traffic stop in the area of McConnell Avenue and Walton Street the man was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Michel Leblanc, 45 of Cornwall was arrested on February 14th, 2014 and charged with breaching his recognizance for failing to notify a change of address and for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on February 2nd, 2014 police attended his last known address to speak with him about an unrelated matter. Police learned that the man had moved and failed to notify the change of address. On February 14th, 2014 the man was located by police, taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on February 15th, 2014 on the strength of a probation warrant. It is alleged that the youth breached her probation order for failing to report and failing to reside at a place approved by probation. A warrant was then issued for her arrest. On February 15th, 2014 the youth was spotted by police walking in the area of Walton Street and McConnell Avenue. The youth was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as per provision s of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

ASSAULT, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 28-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on February 15th, 2014 and charged with two counts assault and breach of two probation orders for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on February 15th, 2014 during an argument with his 19-year-old ex-partner he punched him in the head on two separate occasions. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation police located the man at a Sydney Street address and took him into custody. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on February 16th, 2014 and charged with two counts of assault. It is alleged that on February 16th, 2014 the youth was involved in a verbal argument with her parents when she punched both of them in the head several times. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation they took the youth into custody, charged her accordingly and held her for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as per provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

ARMED ROBBERY

Cornwall, ON – Landon Laplante, 27 of Cornwall was arrested on February 13th, 2014 and charged with three counts of robbery with a weapon. It is alleged that the man was responsible for three robberies that occurred on February 8th, 9th and 10th, 2014 in the city of Cornwall. On all three occurrences the man approached clerks at local businesses and demanded money indicating that he had a gun in his possession. On all three occasions no gun was ever seen by the clerks and police were contacted to investigate. On February 13th, 2014 members of the Criminal Investigation Department took the man was into custody, charged him accordingly and held him for a bail hearing.

SEXUAL ASSAULT, SEXUAL INTERFERENCE

Cornwall, ON – A 38-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on February 13th, 2014 and charged with two counts of sexual assault and one count of sexual interference. It is alleged that between February, 2013 and the summer of 2013 the man sexually assaulted his 17-year-old daughter and his 14-year-old daughter. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On February 13th, 2014 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on March 20th, 2014. His name was not released as it might identify the victims in the matter.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on February 13th, 2014 and charged with breaching his recognizance for not residing at a specified address and for failing to keep the peace. He is also charged with breaching his probation order for not notifying a change of address and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that the youth had not been seen by his mother in two days and police were contacted to investigate. On February 13th, 2014 the youth was spotted walking in the area of Walton Street and Alice Street by a member of the Cornwall Community Police. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as per provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
