Another snowmobile fatality involving alcohol: cops

CORNWALL, Ontario – For the second time in just three weeks a local man has been killed in a snowmobile accident that police are blaming on alcohol.

Early Sunday morning local OPP attended the scene of a snowmobile accident on County Road 2 near 4th Line Road in South Glengarry where a passenger on the machine struck a pole and was killed.

Alex Miller, 21, of South Glengarry lost his life.

The driver, a 27-year-old Cornwall man was arrested and held for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice, Cornwall on Monday and has been charged with impaired operation causing death, over .80 causing death and riving while disqualified.

On Feb. 11 police charged a 22-year-old South Stormont man when the snowmobile he was driving lost control, ejecting both occupants.  One male passenger, Daniel Andre, 21 of South Stormont died when he struck a tree.

Police said alcohol was a factor in that accident as well.
