CORNWALL, Ontario – Former Cornwall resident Taryn Miller has received the 2015 Faces Magazine award for Ottawa’s top makeup artist.

“The magazine is very involved in the fashion industry so winning is great exposure for me,” said Miller, a makeup artist at MAC Cosmetics in Ottawa who also runs her own mobile makeup service.

Miller has over 10 years of experience in the industry from bridal to fashion and print. Hungry to make her mark, the 31-year-old left a secure government job to follow her dream. Since then Miller has collaborated with some of Ottawa’s most talented professional photographers.

“I’ve been focusing on strengthening my portfolio and establishing my brand,” said Miller. “I feel there are big things to come for me.”

And a true makeup artist, she shared a few beauty tips for the upcoming season.

“This winter we’re seeing a lot of dark lips,” said Miller. “Again, celebrity inspired looks are always hot. Mauve tones with overdrawn lips is a huge trend right now. Come spring, the pastels will be in full force.”
