CORNWALL, Ontario – Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for the Cornwall and SD&G area, but that statement could easily be upgraded to a Weather Warning by Tuesday afternoon.

Snowfall is forecasted to begin around Tuesday morning before getting heavier Tuesday afternoon. By Wednesday 10 to 20 centimeters is expected to fall.

On top of the snow, strong winds are also expected for Tuesday. Dangerous driving conditions and blowing snow can be expected Tuesday and Wednesday mornings as the region gets battered by 50 km/h winds.

Snowfall is expected to be at its heaviest Tuesday evening and will approach 15 centimeters hitting the ground in 12 hours, which is Environment Canada’s threshold for a Weather Warning.

The City of Cornwall lifted overnight parking restrictions on March 11, but may reinstate them for Tuesday night if appropriate.
