CORNWALL, Ontario – After 17 full years in Cornwall and now in her 71st year of life, Jane Macmillan, the Director of the Cornwall School of Dance, has decided to close her beloved school with this Sunday’s annual recital at the Aultsville Theatre.

Since coming to Cornwall in February 1999, she has taught ballet and character dance to hundreds of young girls from Cornwall and the surrounding area, as well as some boys and a few adults.

Several of her students have continued their careers in university dance programs including the latest, Tiffany Reinhold, who was accepted after audition into all three programs she applied to before opting for York University in Toronto. In the past, two of Jane’s students were also chosen to perform in Les Grands Ballets Canadiens’ annual Christmas performance of The Nutcracker in Montreal.

Jane says: “It has been an honour and a privilege to teach all these students over the years. I will definitely miss the school but I am not stopping teaching dance entirely.”

Tickets for the school’s final recital will be available at the theatre this Sunday before the show starts at 2 pm ($21 for adults and $16 for children 12 and under).
