CORNWALL, Ontario – As of now, there are eight teams that will be taking to the water at Lock 19 for Cornwall Waterfest on Saturday, August 12.
The majestic dragonboats will be racing through the water in support of Carefor Hospice Cornwall.
The eight entered teams have been busy preparing for the race and raising money for a worthy cause. More teams are still welcome to join into the competition.
The event kicks off at 10:30 a.m. and goes until 3 p.m. There will be a Tug of Oars competition between the dragonboat teams as well.
Money will also be raised for Hospice through the silent auction. Event attendees will have the opportunity to bid on items such as a Beau’s Brewery Gift Basket, Upper Canada Playhouse Tickets, green-time at Summerheights Golf Links and the Cornwall Golf and Country Club.
“Waterfest is staged at the historic old Cornwall Canal,” the Cornwall Waterfest website states. “In conjunction to the popular dragon boat races there is a unique market featuring local and area artisans displaying their wares. The Waterfest stage features a variety of local entertainment as well!”
