CORNWALL, Ontario –  The City of Cornwall has announced that it will be temporarily closing the McConnell/ Marleau intersection from Aug. 29 to Sept. 1.

The closure is to complete the final construction elements of the intersection that have been ongoing for over a year.

“The road closure is necessary to safely complete the final construction near the intersection,” the statement from the city reads. “The closure will also expedite the construction completion date.”

The section of McConnell Ave. between Marleau Ave. and Ridgewood Dr. will be closed and there will be a detour in place via Marlborough St.

While this closure will be right in front of the Cornwall Community Hospital, the City states that there will be a local traffic detour on that closed section of McConnell and the hospital will still be accessible.

“The project will be completed by mid-September – subject to weather,” the city goes on to state. “The City of Cornwall appreciates the on-going patience of the public for this major construction project.”
