CORNWALL, Ontario – The City of Cornwall is asking residents and business owners to share their thoughts on municipal services and spending priorities in the lead up to 2018 City Budget deliberations.
A budget survey has been launched on the City of Cornwall website (www.Cornwall.ca/2018Budget) to gather public input on tax-supported services and priorities for the community. The survey should take about 15 minutes to complete and it will be available until the end of September. Hard copies will also be available at City facilities including City Hall, the Civic Complex, Benson Centre, Cornwall Public Library and the Glen-Stor-Dun Lodge.
“The City Budget is one of the most important exercises that Council and Administration undertakes each year,” said Mayor Leslie O’Shaughnessy. “The input we receive from the public will help to shape our overall deliberations on spending both in 2018 and the years to come.”
Through the survey, residents can learn more about various City programs and services and share their views on whether these services should be enhanced, maintained or reduced in the upcoming year. Residents can also share their views on what the priorities for the City should be and put forward specific community projects or ideas.
“We want to encourage all residents and business owners to take the time to complete the survey,” said Tracey Bailey, General Manager, Financial Services and Treasurer. “The comments will help guide our municipality in its efforts to meet the public’s service expectations.”
The results of the survey will be presented to Council in the lead-up to the annual budget deliberations later this year.
