Cornwall teen charged with fraud and animal cruelty

CORNWALL, Ontario – a 14-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on Sept. 15, 2017. It is alleged that the youth made unauthorized online purchases from Microsoft XBOX using a parent’s credit card.

Furthermore, the youth was observed assaulting the family pets on a video filmed using a personal device. Police were contacted and an investigation was conducted. The youth was charged with Fraud Under $5, 000 and Cruelty to Animals. He was released to appear in court at a later date. His name is not being released as per provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

DOMESTIC

CORNWALL, Ontario – A 24-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on Sept. 16, 2017. He is currently bound by a Probation Order and Recognizance Order with the relevant conditions to not communicate with, be within 200 metres of, or attend the residence of his ex-girlfriend, and to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged that he attended his ex-girlfriend’s residence and entered without permission then refused to leave. Police were contacted and an investigation was conducted. The man was charged with Unlawfully in a Dwelling, Breach of Probation, and 3 counts of Breach of Recognizance. He was held for a Bail Hearing. His name is not being released in order to protect the identity of the victim.

IMPAIRED

CORNWALL, Ontario – Trent Thomas, age 27, of Akwesasne, Ontario, was arrested on Sept 16, 2017. He was located by Canada Border Service Agency, at the port of entry in Cornwall, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Police were contacted and an investigation was conducted. Mr. Thomas was charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100 mls of blood. He was released to appear in court at a later date.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

CORNWALL, Ontario – A 31-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on Sept. 17, 2017. He is currently bound by an Undertaking Order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged that on this date he attended his girlfriend’s residence. When she refused to meet with him, he kicked in her door and entered her residence. She pushed him out of the residence and secured the door. He broke the banister and railing on the front porch. She attended the porch to stop him from damaging property. He attempted to enter the residence again. She stood in his way. He pushed her into the door then began punching the window of the door near her head. Glass from the door broke and pieces fell onto her and into the residence. Police were contacted and an investigation was conducted. The man was charged with Domestic Assault, 3 counts of Domestic Mischief Under $5, 000, Unlawfully in a Dwelling, and Breach of Undertaking. He was held for a Bail Hearing. His name is not being released in order to protect the identity of the victim. The victim suffered minor injuries as a result of the assault.
