Man arrested for carrying concealed weapon, drugs

CORNWALL, Ontario – Matthew Burnside, 25, of Cornwall was arrested on Nov. 11, 2017 and charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of speed, hydromorph and marijuana.

He was also charged with breach of probation for possessing drugs, a knife and for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on Nov. 11, 2017 the man was questioned by a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service in the area of Carleton Street and Walton Street. He was found to be in possession of a knife, marijuana, speed and hydromorph. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

FLIGHT FROM POLICE

CORNWALL, Ontario – Dylan Dufresne, 20, of Cornwall was arrested on Nov. 11, 2017 and charged with flight from police. It is alleged while driving a dirt bike on Nov. 11, 2017 the man failed to stop for police in the area of Jarvis Street. He was later located by police, taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Dec. 21, 2017.

WARRANT

CORNWALL, Ontario – Louis Lafave, 46, of Cornwall was arrested on Nov. 11, 2017 on the strength of a warrant and charged with breach of undertaking for failing to notify a change of address and for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged while investigating an unrelated matter on Nov. 11, 2017 the man was located by police. He was taken into custody on the strength of an existing warrant, charged accordingly for failing to notify a change of address and held for a bail hearing.

CORNWALL, Ontario – Brent Markell, 33, of Williamstown was arrested on Nov. 12, 2017 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man was wanted for fraud related charges dating back to 2013 and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On Nov. 12, 2017 a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service assumed custody of the man from OPP as they had the man in custody on the strength of Cornwall’s warrant. The warrant was executed and the man was released to appear in court on Nov. 30, 2017.
