Cornwall Restaurant Week raises $2,150 for Agapè Centre

CORNWALL, Ontario – Cornwall Restaurant Week, its participating restaurants, and the Seaway Food Festival are proud to announce that during the city-wide food celebration collectively they were able to raise $2,150. 

Cornwall Restaurant Week is an annual promotion that celebrates Cornwall’s finest eateries at an affordable price. In this 6th edition, for the first time ever, participating restaurants made a commitment to donate proceeds from each meal sold during that week: $0.75 donation for a $10 meal, $1.50 donation for a $28 meal, and $2.00 donation for a $34 meal. Accordingly, Seaway Food Festival also sold hat and t-shirts with proceeds also going towards the initiative.

The Agapè Centre was founded in 1971 with the simple belief that no man, woman or child should go hungry. It is Cornwall’s largest food bank and only soup kitchen. Food poverty, the lack of access to nutritious and affordable food, is very present in our community. “Partnering with Cornwall Restaurant Week has been a wonderful experience. I greatly appreciate the commitment of all of the participants who so willingly agreed to donate a portion of their sales in support of our hunger relief efforts in the community. Thank you for extending your reach to those who are less fortunate. Thank you as well to all who dined at the participating eateries,” said Diane Plourde, Executive Director of the Agapè Centre.

“Once again, we have been overwhelmed by the engagement and support we have received from the community and our ‘seaway foodies’. But more importantly I’ve been amazed by our chefs and owners who stepped up to the plate and embraced this initiative wholeheartedly. For all intents and purposes, this was another massive success and kudos goes out to everyone who played a hand in the success of the week,” said Sebastien “Mani” Manigat, Director & Founder of Seaway Food Festival.
