CORNWALL, Ontario – The United Way of SD&G held their signature fundraising event, their Holiday Wine & Gourmet Tasting, at the Nav Centre on Saturday, Nov. 24.

Following this successful sixth edition of this event, the United Way feels that it is important to focus on the impact that they are having in the community.

“Every donation, sponsorship and investment that you make with the United Way/Centraide of SD&G is helping our community. It’s not about the big number, it’s about the number of lives that we are changing in SD&G.” said Meagan Bingley, United Way/Centraide of SD&G Director of Operations. “This event is about kicking off the holiday season, bringing the community together, and raising awareness for the United Way. All of the money that we fundraise stays local in Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry.“

The wine, cider and signature cocktails at the event were provided by CMG Innovations. The Nav Centre’s Chef Luc McCabe provided the delicious food.

Guests also had a chance to bid on auction prizes including jewellry from Pommier Jewellers and a designer wallet with $1,000 stuffed in from Welch LLP. One lucky guest won “Wine for a Year” taking home a whole tree worth of wine, 52 bottles in total from around the world. The Wine Tree was sponsored by Olsonfab Metal Fabrication.

“The room was electric… over the past five years we have been a part of organizing this night and I think we hit it out of the park this year. The tastings and wine were excellent, the room was alive with excitement and honestly the response after the event has been so positive. We are looking forward to next year’s event.” said Karen and Ray Brunet, United Way/Centraide SD&G Holiday Wine and Gourmet Chairs.
