WILLIAMSTOWN, Ontario – Every year in office, M.P.P. Jim McDonell has made it a tradition to meet with the community around the holidays to chat, catch up and answer any questions.

“We try to have a couple of events a year where people can get out and stop in, have some fun, chat,” said McDonell.

This year, McDonell met with members of the public on Thursday, Dec. 27 at the Char-Lan Recreation Centre. Hot chocolate, holiday cookies and desserts were provided. The public could lace up their skates and enjoy an afternoon of winter festivities.

“Last year we had one (meet and greet) in Cornwall and Winchester in the same day, so we thought we would try one out at Char-Lan (this year),” said McDonell.

McDonell was happy that the weather was coopering for commuters. Joined by his wife, children, grandchildren and friends, he was happy to be in the presence of community members.

“The first couple of years we tried just meet and greets. We thought we would try something else instead,” explained McDonell. Since 2017, skating has been incorporated into the meet and greet. Having played hockey for 30 years, McDonell was happy to be back in an arena.
