CORNWALL, Ontario – There was magic, music and munchies at the CAPE Kids’ New Year’s Eve Party at the Agora Centre.

Hosted at the Agora Centre by Randy and Carol Sauve of the Cornwall and Area Pop Event (CAPE) the event saw a performance by magician Eric Leclerc of the YTV show Tricked.

For the past few years, CAPE has organized New Year’s Eve festivities, but this is the second year that they have also thrown a party for the kids.

The event ran from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and in addition to the magical performance by Eric Leclerc, there was also dancing,  food and a New Year’s countdown at 5 p.m.

Carol Sauve said that last year’s event saw 100 kids come out to ring in 2018 and she was hoping for at least that many this year.

“It is something different that the kids can enjoy on New Year’s,” she said.

Leclerc said he was excited to perform for both the kids and the parents in attendance.

“It is all about the parents,” he said. “You’ve got to make the moms laugh and then the kids. The kids like the colours and the slapstick humour, but the moms like the joked that go over the kids’ heads. It’ll be a great show. It’s a New Year and everyone is in a good mood and there is a lot of energy.”
