CORNWALL, Ontario – Frederico Belmonte, 48, of Cornwall was arrested on Dec. 31, 2018 and charged with the following:
• Assault
• Assault with a weapon x 2
• Forcible confinement
• Sexual assault
• Threats x 3
• Breach of probation (failing to keep the peace)
It is alleged during an argument on Dec. 31, 2018, he assaulted a man known to him using a belt and a toilet seat, as well as prevented the man from leaving the residence. It is further alleged the man sexually assaulted the victim and made threats to harm him and his family. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, the man was taken into custody, was charged accordingly, and held for a bail hearing
