CORNWALL, Ontario – The Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) has announced that it is holding buses until it receives an all clear from the police.

The Cornwall Community Police Service (CCPS) locked down Cornwall Collegiate and Vocational School (CCVS) and put all other schools in the area under a hold and secure order after a gunman was sighted in the area of CCVS at 8:50 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019.

“Due to the active police investigation in Cornwall, #UCDSB schools will be holding buses until police advise that it is safe to dismiss students. Parents/guardians may pick up their kids at school. At this time, all students will need to be signed out by a parent/guardian,” a UCDSB tweet reads.

In addition to CCVS, Central Public School, Bridgewood Public School, Eamers Corners, Viscount Alexander and Bishop MacDonell are under hold and secure.

The lockdown was lifted at CCVS at around noon and they were moved to a hold and secure order.
